Communicator 2007 does not release cached person objects after you search for contacts

SYMPTOMS

After you search for contacts in Microsoft Office Communicator 2007, the cached person objects are not released until you log off from Communicator 2007. This problem causes high physical memory usage.

CAUSE

This problem occurs if person object references are not released by Communicator 2007 in a timely manner.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, download and install the hotfix that is described in the following article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
