FIX: The InScope function returns incorrect data when you use the function for a static column or for a subtotal column in a matrix data region in a SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services report

Microsoft distributes Microsoft SQL Server 2005 fixes as one downloadable file. Because the fixes are cumulative, each new release contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous SQL Server 2005 fix release.

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services, you create a report that contains a matrix data region. You use the InScope function in an expression of a static column or of a subtotal column. When you display the report, the InScope function returns incorrect data.

For example, you add a group that is named GroupA to the matrix data region. You add a static column or a subtotal column to the GroupA group. Then, you specify the following expression for the BackgroundColor property of the static column or of the subtotal column:
=IIF(InScope("GroupA"), "Red", "Blue")
When you display the report, you can notice that the background color is incorrect.

Note Because the builds are cumulative, each new fix release contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous SQL Server 2005 fix release. Microsoft recommends that you consider applying the most recent fix release that contains this hotfix. The SQL Server 2005 builds that were released after SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 2 was released
Microsoft SQL Server 2005 hotfixes are created for specific SQL Server service packs. You must apply a SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 2 hotfix to an installation of SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 2. By default, any hotfix that is provided in a SQL Server service pack is included in the next SQL Server service pack.
