The AutoComplete feature in Outlook 2003 may not resolve a name that begins with a diacritical mark or an accent

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Office Outlook 2003, you type a name in the address line of an e-mail message. The first letter of the name has a diacritical mark or an accent. (Diacritical marks are symbols that are added to letters of the alphabet to indicate different pronunciation than the letters are usually given.) If you type the first character of the name without the diacritical mark or without the accent, the AutoComplete feature in Outlook may not resolve the name as expected from the Outlook nickname cache file.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, install hotfix 946207. After you install the hotfix, the AutoComplete feature performs both case-insensitive searching and diacritical-insensitive searching in the nickname cache file.
