Description of the PerformancePoint Server 2007 hotfix package: December 19, 2007

A hotfix package is available for PerformancePoint Server 2007. The build of this hotfix package is 3.0.3709.00.

List of issues fixed

This hotfix package fixes the following issues that were not previously documented in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article:

PerformancePoint Server 2007 planning issues

• Consider the following scenario:
  • You create a new dimension and add it to a model by using the PerformancePoint add-in for Microsoft Excel.
  • In Excel, you create an assignment to the model.
  • You save and close the workbook.
  • You the open the workbook and try to add an annotation to the assignment.
  In this scenario, you receive an unhandled exception error.
• When you use a SQL rule as part of a calculation, the results that are returned are incorrect.
  
  Note If you use a Multidimensional Expressions (MDX) query or a native SQL query as part of the same calculation, the results that are returned are correct.

PerformancePoint Server 2007 monitoring issues

• When you try to view the PerformancePoint Server 2007 dashboard that is inside an inline frame (IFRAME) tag on a Web page, you receive an "Access denied" error message.

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next software update that contains this hotfix.

Prerequisites

The following list contains prerequisites for the hotfix package:

• To apply this hotfix, you must have Microsoft Office PerformancePoint Server 2007 installed. The version number must be 3.0.3520.00 or a later version. To view the version number, click Help, and then click About PerformancePoint Server.
  
  Note You must apply this hotfix on all client and server computers that have the affected component of PerformancePoint Server installed.
• To apply this hotfix, you must run the PerformancePoint Planning installation files that are appropriate to your situation:
  • The Planning server installation file Pplsrv.msp
    This installation must be completed on the Planning server only.
  • The Planning Excel client installation file Pplxcli.msp
    This installation must be completed on all client computers that are running the PerformancePoint Planning add-in for Excel.
  • The Planning Business Modeler installation file Pbmcli.msp
    This installation must be completed on all client computers that are running the PerformancePoint Planning Business Modeler.
• To apply this hotfix, you must run the PerformancePoint Monitoring installation files that are appropriate to your situation:
  • The Monitoring server installation file Pscsrv.msp
    This installation must be completed on the Monitoring server only.

Restart information

You must restart the computer after you apply this hotfix package.

To restart the server that is running IIS, you must run the IISReset command. To do this, click Start, click Run, type IISRESET, and then click OK. This command resolves the PerformancePoint Monitoring and PerformancePoint Planning functions.

Hotfix replacement information

This hotfix is not replaced by any later hotfix.

Registry information

To use one of the hotfixes in this package, you do not have to make any changes to the registry.
