How to back up and restore the registry in Windows On This PageSYMPTOMSWhen you use Windows Server Backup to perform a recover operation in Windows Server 2008, Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 does not appear as an option that can be recovered under Applications on the Select application page.
CAUSEThis issue occurs if certain Windows Server Backup-related registry entries are missing. To recognize Windows SharePoint Services as a component that can be backed up, Windows Server Backup requires certain registry entries. However, the registry entries are not automatically created when you install Windows SharePoint Services. RESOLUTIONWarning Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly by using Registry Editor or by using another method. These problems might require that you reinstall the operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that these problems can be solved. Modify the registry at your own risk. To resolve this issue, create the registry entries that Windows Server Backup requires. Note We recommend that you create the registry entries when you install Windows SharePoint Services.
