How to back up and restore the registry in Windows XP and Windows Vista SYMPTOMSWhen you select many items in any of the views in the administration pane of Microsoft System Center Operations Manager 2007 console, some context-sensitive action tasks that you typically expect may not be available in the actions pane. For example, if you select more than 10 similar items in the Active Alerts view, the Tasks action tasks and the Reports action tasks are not available in the actions pane. CAUSE
This behavior is by design. Context-sensitive action tasks are available when objects are selected. By default, to improve performance, action tasks are made available only for the first 10 selected items. Therefore, when you select more than 10 items, some action tasks are unavailable. RESOLUTIONWarning Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly by using Registry Editor or by using another method. These problems might require that you reinstall the operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that these problems can be solved. Modify the registry at your own risk. If you want, you can change the default limit. However, you must make sure that the change does not affect the performance in the console. To change the default limit, you must add the TaskSelectedObjectsLimit registry entry under the following registry subkey: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Microsoft Operations Manager\3.0\Console Name: TaskSelectedObjectsLimit Value type: DWORD Value data: n (Hexadecimal) Collapse this table
