Null values may be returned for the Web parameter or for the site parameter after you install update 943837 in Microsoft Solution for Hosted Messaging and Collaboration 4.0

After you install update 943837 on
a computer that is running Microsoft Solution for
Hosted Messaging and Collaboration 4.0, the
HostedSharePoint2007::GetCustomerSite procedure may return null values for the
Web parameter
or for
the site parameter.

Description of the update for Hosted Messaging and Collaboration 4.0 for Windows SharePoint Services provisioning components
A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.

How to apply the hotfix
To apply this hotfix, follow these steps:
Uninstall old components. To do this, follow these steps:
Start the MPS Deployment Tool.
Expand SharePoint Services
Hosting.
Right-click Hosted SharePoint, and
then click Uninstall.
Right-click Managed SharePoint, and
then click Uninstall.
Right-click SharePoint Provider, and
then click Uninstall.
Expand MPS Web Service, and then
expand Hosted SharePoint Web Service.
Under
Hosted SharePoint Web Service, right-click each server, and
then click Uninstall.
Expand Managed SharePoint Web
Service.
Under Managed SharePoint Web Service,
right-click each server, and then click Uninstall.
Click Start Deployment.
Wait for the "Deployment Completed" message.
Uninstall the MPS SharePoint Provider Web service.
To do this, follow these steps:
Log on to the Windows SharePoint Services server
(COLLAB01).
In Control Panel, open Add or Remove
Programs.
Click MPS SharePoint Provider Web Service Build
4.0.nnn. nn,
and then click Remove.
Click Yes when you are prompted to
confirm the removal of the service.
Copy the new .msi files. To do this, follow these steps:
Open the MSIShare folder. To do this, click
File in the MPS Deployment Tool, and then click File
Locations to find the path of the installer files.
Rename or move the following files in the MSIShare
folder:
HostedSharePoint2007NS.msi
ManagedSharePoint2007NS.msi
SharePointProvider.msi
WindowsSharePointServicesWebService.msi
HostedSharePoint2007WS.msi
ManagedSharePoint2007WS.msi
Copy the following files from the hotfix to the
MSIShare folder:
HostedSharePoint2007NS.msi
ManagedSharePoint2007NS.msi
SharePointProvider.msi
WindowsSharePointServicesWebService.msi
HostedSharePoint2007WS.msi
ManagedSharePoint2007WS.msi
Install new components. To do this, follow these steps:
Start the MPS Deployment Tool.
Right-click SharePoint Services
Hosting, and then click Install all in this
group.
Right-click MPS Web Services, and then
click Install all in this group.
Click Start Deployment.
Wait for the "Deployment Completed" message.
Initialize SharePoint components. To do this, follow these
steps:
Start the MPS Deployment Tool.
Expand SharePoint Services
Hosting.
Right-click Initialize Hosted
SharePoint, and then click Execute
-> Initialize Hosted SharePoint.
Right-click SharePoint Initialize Namespace
Security,
and then click Execute
-> SharePoint Initialize Namespace Security.
Click Start Deployment.
Wait for the "Deployment Completed" message.
Install the new MPS SharePoint Provider Web service. To do this, follow
these steps:
Log on to the Windows SharePoint Services server
(COLLAB01).
Copy
the WindowsSharePointServicesWebService.msi file from the MSIShare folder to
COLLAB01, and then run the WindowsSharePointServicesWebService.msi file on
COLLAB01.
Accept all default settings to install the Web
service.
Reset Internet Information Services (IIS). To do this,
follow these steps:
On the Provisioning Web Service servers, open a command
prompt.
Type iisreset, and then press
ENTER.
Prerequisites
There are no prerequisites.
Restart requirement
You do
not have to restart the computer after you apply this hotfix.
Hotfix replacement information
This hotfix does not replace a previously released
hotfix.
File information
The English version of this hotfix has the file
attributes (or later file attributes) that are listed in the following table.
The dates and times for these files are listed in Coordinated Universal Time
(UTC). When you view the file information, it is converted to local time. To
find the difference between UTC and local time, use the Time
Zone tab in the Date and Time item in Control
Panel.
