Some Secure Digital (SD) cards do not work correctly on Windows XP-based computers

SYMPTOMS

Some Secure Digital (SD) cards do not work correctly on Windows XP-based computers. Additionally, you may notice a yellow exclamation mark (!) next to the SD card in Device Manager.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because a defect in Windows XP prevents the native SD driver from being initialized correctly.

RESOLUTION

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix might receive additional testing.
