SYMPTOMS

When you try to change the category of a meeting by opening the meeting in Microsoft Entourage 2008, the category is not saved when you accept the changes. This issue may occur when you try to change the category of a single-occurrence meeting or when you try to change the category of a repeating meeting. If you reopen the meeting, the category may be set to None. Or, the category may be set to the original category.

Additionally, when you change the category of a meeting in the Event window, you may receive the following message:
You have made changes to this invitation. If the organizer sends an updated meeting, your changes will be lost.
The organizer for the meeting may receive the following message:
You have made changes to this invitation. To notify the attendees, you must manually send an update.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, change the category for the meeting in the Calendar view. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Open the Calendar view.
  2. Locate and then select the meeting event.
  3. On the toolbar, click Categories.
  4. Click the category that you want to assign to the event.
