SYMPTOMS

When you open a Microsoft Excel 2008 for Mac workbook, any colors that you used for shading or for fonts may change. You may be unable to see the information in the workbook because of this change.

CAUSE

This problem occurs after you insert a Ledger worksheet into the workbook. This action causes the color palette to change. Some colors change to black, to white, or to a different shade of the original color.

WORKAROUND

The following workaround does not permanently resolve this problem. When you save the workbook, the color palette changes again.

To temporarily work around this problem, follow these steps:
  1. On the Excel menu, click Preferences.
  2. Click the Colors tab.
  3. Click Reset, and then click OK.
After you follow these steps, you can make changes, and you can print the workbook with the correct colors.
