This article contains a list of third-party programs that may experience a change in functionality after you install Windows XP Service Pack 3 (SP3) on the computer that runs these programs. If you have a program installed that appears on this list, contact the software vendor for more information before you install Windows XP SP3. This list includes only tested and reported programs. This list should not be considered comprehensive.

Windows XP SP3 makes significant changes to many files and processes. These changes are intended to improve system security, reliability, and functionality.

Note Some programs are written specifically for files and services that may be changed in future versions of Windows.

Programs that are not listed

When you run a program that displays a change in functionality after you install Windows XP SP3, and there is no information about this program in the table, use one of the following methods:
Restart the computer one or more times.
Contact the program vendor. By doing this, you may be directed to a Web site that contains a support area. Or, you may be directed to an update that makes the program compatible with Windows XP SP3. Or, you may be directed to a version of the program that was released after the Windows XP SP3 release date.
