SYMPTOMS

In a Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 server environment, you create an X.400 connector that has multiple organizational unit (OU) attributes in an address space, such as OU2, OU3, and OU4. When a message is routed to this X.400 connector, the Message Transfer Agent (MTA) component in Exchange Server 2003 may route the message incorrectly.

CAUSE

This issue occurs because the MTA component does not correctly recognize the message address if the address space has more than one organizational unit.

This hotfix requires Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 Service Pack 2 to be installed on the server because of file dependencies.

You do not have to restart the computer after you apply this hotfix. However, the following services are restarted automatically when you apply this hotfix:

The Microsoft Exchange Information Store service
The Microsoft Exchange MTA Stacks service
The Microsoft Exchange Management service
The Windows Management Instrumentation service
The Internet Information Services (IIS) Admin Service and all dependent services
