FIX: Error message when you perform a merge operation for source code files by using Visual Studio 2005 Team Foundation Server Service Pack 1: "Cannot insert duplicate key in object 'dbo.tbl_lock'"

SYMPTOMS

You perform a merge operation for source code files by using Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Team Foundation Server Service Pack 1 (SP1). However, the merge operation may fail. Additionally, you may receive the following error message:
System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapExpeption: A database error occurred (SQL_error 2627)---> System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Violation of Primary key constraint 'K=PK-tbl_Lock." Cannot insert duplicate key in object 'dbo.tbl_lock'.
Note This problem does not occur in Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Team Foundation Server or in Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 Team Foundation Server.

Note If you installed Visual Studio 2005 Team Foundation Server on a dual server, you must apply this hotfix on the data tier server.

You do not have to restart the computer after you apply this hotfix.
