SYMPTOMS

After you install Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 1 on a computer that is running the German version of Windows Server 2003, two Event ID 12011 events are logged every time that the MSExchangeTransport service starts. This problem occurs even though this service starts successfully and mailflow functionality works correctly.

The events that are logged resemble the following.

Event 1

Ereignistyp: Fehler
Ereignisquelle: MSExchangeTransport
Ereigniskategorie: TransportService
Ereigniskennung: 12011
Beschreibung:

Notes
  • These two events are in German. The English equivalent of the description is as follows:
Microsoft Exchange could not register the service principal name "ServicePrincipalName." The specified domain does not exist or cannot be contacted.
  • This problem may also occur when Exchange 2007 is installed on a computer that is running other non-English versions of Windows Server 2003.
