When you use the ss Diff command on certain file types in Microsoft Visual SourceSafe 2005, the ss Diff command may incorrectly report file differences even though the files are identical. Additionally, if you use the -f option in the ss Diff command to reconcile the file differences, additional version updates are added to the file history.
Note This problem does not occur in Microsoft Visual SourceSafe 6.0.

Method 1Use Visual SourceSafe Explorer to find project-level differences in the files.
Method 2Change the file encoding type from ANSI encoding or from MBCS encoding to Unicode encoding.
