SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario. In an Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 1 (SP1) environment, you use the condition when the Subject field or the body of the message contains specific words to create a transport rule. However, Exchange Server 2007 SP1 matches the character pattern specified instead of an actual word. For example, you define "dog" as the specific word. If any word contains the characters "dog" in a message, such as "ddog," or tfdogk," Exchange Server 2007 SP1 considers that the string matches the condition.

If you configure the transport rule with the action send bounce message to sender with enhanced status code in this scenario, the sender receives a non-delivery report (NDR) that resembles the following message.
From: <PostMaster>
Sent: <Date, Time>
To: <Sender>
Subject: <Subject>
