You cannot install the mobile device management client on a mobile device in System Center Configuration Manager 2007

SYMPTOMS

You try to synchronize a mobile device with a computer that is running an x64-based version of Windows Vista that has Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager 2007 installed. When you do this, you cannot install the mobile device management client on the mobile device.

This problem occurs when the computer that is running the x64-based version of Windows Vista has the Windows Mobile Device Center installed.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the deployment of Microsoft ActiveSync does not work on a computer that is running an x64-based version of Windows Vista that has the Windows Mobile Device Center installed.
