The DFS resource appears to be in a failed state when you create a DFS namespace in a Windows Server 2008-based cluster

Expand all | Collapse all

SYMPTOMS

In a Windows Server 2008-based cluster, you run the High Availability wizard in Failover Cluster Manager to create a Distributed File System (DFS) namespace. After the DFS namespace is created, the DFS resource appears to be in a failed state.

RESOLUTION

This behavior occurs because of Domain Name System (DNS) registration and replication delays. After 10 to 15 seconds, the DFS resource comes online.

Note This is a single-instance failure that occurs when DFS tries to come online after a new namespace is created.
