How to enable the Microsoft Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) server to distribute Windows Vista Service Pack 1

INTRODUCTION

This article describes how to enable the Microsoft Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) server to reliably distribute Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (SP1).

To install the WinVerifyTrust update, follow these steps:
  1. Download the appropriate update from one of the following Microsoft Download Center Web sites:
  2. Run the .exe file to install the WinVerifyTrust update.
  3. Restart the computer.
To import the Windows Vista Service Pack 1 Standalone package to a WSUS 3.0 server, follow these steps:
  1. Start the Windows Server Update Services Administrator console, expand the Update Services node, and then locate the node for the WSUS server.
  2. Right-click Updates, and then click Import Updates. The Microsoft Update Catalog Web site will open in a new browser window.
  3. In the Microsoft Update Catalog site, type Vista SP1, and then click Search.
  4. In the Microsoft Update Catalog results, click to select Windows Vista Service Pack 1 – Standalone (x86) and Windows Vista Service Pack 1 – Standalone (x64), and then click Add to add them into the download basket.
  5. Click View basket.
  6. Confirm that the selected packages are correct, and then click Import to import the selected packages and any prerequisites to the WSUS server.
  7. Click Close.
  8. In the Windows Server Update Services Administrator console, confirm that the appropriate packages and prerequisites are available.
