The "Set sensitivity" list is not locked in Outlook 2003 after you configure the sensitivity setting by using a policy or by modifying the corresponding registry entry

SYMPTOMS

You configure the sensitivity setting in Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 by using a policy or by modifying the corresponding registry entry. After you do this, the setting appears to be set correctly in the Set sensitivity list. Additionally, the list is locked as expected. However, when you open a new mail item, the list becomes unlocked. Additionally, you can modify the Set sensitivity list again.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, follow these steps.

  1. Apply hotfix 948624. For more information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

  2. Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
  3. Click the following subkey:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Outlook\Preferences
  4. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
  5. Type DisableSensitivity, and then press ENTER.
  6. On the Edit menu, click Modify.
  7. Type 1, and then click OK.
  8. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
  9. Type DisableImportance, and then press ENTER.
  10. On the Edit menu, click Modify.
  11. Type 1, and then click OK.
  12. Exit Registry Editor.
