Article ID: 948770 - Last Review: January 20, 2012 - Revision: 3.2 Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 may close unexpectedly when you click the lookup button in a customer type field that triggers the OnChange event
SYMPTOMSIn Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0, you set the OnLoad event of an account entity or of a contact
entity to trigger
an OnChange event for a customer type field. For example, the customer type field may be the Parent Account field
or the Primary Contact field. If the OnChange event occurs, you receive a message. However, when you open an account record or a contact record, the OnChange event of the OnLoad event does not occur. You do not receive a message for the OnChange event. Then, when you click the lookup button in the customer type field that triggers the OnChange event, the OnChange event still does not occur. Additionally, Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 may close unexpectedly. CAUSEThis problem occurs because there are no event handlers to
provide any processing when the OnChange event occurs.
There are no event handlers because the FireOnChange method is added to the OnLoad event, and the
event handlers are not defined when the FireOnChange method triggers the OnChange
event. RESOLUTIONThis problem is fixed in the latest cumulative update rollup for Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0. For more information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
