Article ID: 948897 - Last Review: October 7, 2008 - Revision: 2.1 An attachment incorrectly appears as the body of the e-mail message in an Exchange Server 2007 environmentSYMPTOMSIn a Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 environment, a user
sends an e-mail message that has an attachment. Additionally, this e-mail
message has no text in the body of the e-mail message. However, when a user
receives the e-mail message, the attachment incorrectly appears as the body of
the e-mail message. The original e-mail message may have content that resembles
the following: From: somebody_sender@example.com Subject: Test message To: somebody_receiver@example.com MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; name="test_attach.txt" Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64 Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="test_attach.txt" CAUSEThis problem occurs because Exchange Server 2007 ignores the
part of the original e-mail message that contains "Content-Disposition:
attachment." Therefore, the message is processed incorrectly, and the
attachment appears as the body of the e-mail message. RESOLUTIONTo resolve this problem, install Update Rollup 4 for Exchange
Server 2007 Service Pack 1 (SP1) on the Exchange server. For more information about Update Rollup 4 for Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 1, see the following Exchange Help topic: Description of Update Rollup 4 for Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 1
