Article ID: 948920 - Last Review: February 20, 2008 - Revision: 1.1 FIX: Error message when you perform a processing operation or a query operation in SQL Server 2005 Analysis Services: "Error 0xC1020034. The following file is corrupted"Bug #: 0002460 (SQL Hotfix) Microsoft distributes Microsoft SQL Server 2005 fixes as one downloadable file. Because the fixes are cumulative, each new release contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous SQL Server 2005 fix release. SYMPTOMSWhen you perform a processing operation or a query operation in Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Analysis Services, the operation fails. Additionally, you receive the following error message: Error 0xC1020034. The following file is corrupted: FileDescription This problem occurs after you install Cumulative Update 5 for SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 2. CAUSEThis problem occurs because of a race condition that was introduced in Cumulative Update 5 for SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 2. Note The build of Cumulative Update 5 for SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 2 is 09.00.3215. When the race condition occurs, SQL Server 2005 Analysis Services marks a data page in memory. In doing this, SQL Server 2005 Analysis Services indicates that the data page has been written to disk. However, the marked data page in memory is not actually written to disk. The race condition prevents SQL Server 2005 Analysis Services from writing the marked data page in memory to disk. This situation may result in file corruption when the Windows operating system later discards the changed memory. RESOLUTIONThe fix for this issue was first released in Cumulative Update 6.
