Users do not receive information in DSN messages in Exchange Server 2007 with Service Pack 1

Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server and Exchange Server 2003 support a function that lets you customize delivery status notification (DSN). However, Exchange Server 2007 with Service Pack 1 (SP1) does not have a similar function now. Therefore, all DSNs are rewritten by a transport component. Therefore, Exchange Server 2007 users do not receive information that is included in DSN messages.

To resolve this problem, install Update Rollup 4 for Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 1 (SP1) on the Exchange server. After you apply this update, use the Set-transportConfig command together with the DSNConversionMode parameter to enable the function. For example, type the following command at the Exchange Management Shell.
Note The default value of the DSNConversionMode parameter is UseExchangeDSNs. If this parameter is set to UseExchangeDSNs, Exchange Server 2007 converts the DSNs to the Exchange 2007 DSN format. Any customized text or attachments that were associated with the original DSN are overwritten. If you set this parameter to PreserveDSNBody, Exchange Server 2007 converts the DSNs to Exchange 2007 DSN format. However, the text in the body of the DSN message is retained. If you set this parameter to DoNotConvert, Exchange Server 2007 does not modify the DSN message. Instead, Exchange Server 2007 delivers the message as a standard message.
