SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario. You are running a Windows Server 2003-based domain controller. On this domain controller, you perform an authoritative restore to restore an application partition that was previously deleted. In this scenario, the application partition may not be replicated to some other domain controllers after the authoritative restore.

Additionally, the following events are logged in the Directory Service log on the domain controller:

Event Type: Warning
Event Source: NTDS General
Event Category: Internal Processing
Event ID: 1173
Date: Date
Time: Time
User: NT AUTHORITY\ANONYMOUS LOGON

This domain controller will be unable to replicate with the source domain controller until this problem is corrected.

User Action
Verify if the source domain controller is accessible or network connectivity is available.

Additional Data

RESOLUTION

To prevent this problem, apply the following hotfix on the domain controller before you perform an authoritative restore.
