INTRODUCTION

Issues that the hotfix package fixes

This hotfix fixes the following issues that were not previously documented in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article:
  • A server that is running Windows Server 2003 experiences high CPU usage, and Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 runs very slowly.

This issue occurs when the following conditions are true:
    1. Many users are running Outlook 2007 in Terminal Server client sessions that are connected to the Windows Server 2003-based server.
    2. You have an Instant Messenger program installed such as, Office Communicator, Windows Messenger, or MSN Messenger.
    3. You have Outlook-Instant Messenger integration enabled.
    4. Your Windows registry is missing the following registry data:
      HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\IM Providers\Communicator HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\IM Providers\MSN Messenger HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\IM Providers\Windows Messenger
  • You use the Microsoft Access Developer Extensions 2007 Package Solution wizard to package a Microsoft Office Access 2007 database application. Then, you install the packaged application on a computer.

When you open the packaged application, you receive the following message:
A potential security concern has been identified.

Disable Outlook-Instant Messenger integration

To disable the Outlook-Instant Messenger integration, add the following registry data:

DWORD: Enabled
Value: 0
