Error message when you import data into Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 by using the Data Import Wizard or start a new data migration by using Data Migration Manager: "Mismatched data delimiter: only one delimiter was found"

Symptom 1

You import data into Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 by using the Data Import Wizard. All the steps in the wizard are completed. However, the data is not imported. In the Imports area under Workplace, you may see the import job and errors. The error rows may contain the following error message:

You use the Data Migration Manager for Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 to start a new data migration. If you select a .csv file that contains new line characters in a data field, the Verify Delimiters page will be displayed incorrectly. If you click OK on the Validating Files page, you receive the following error message:

Symptom 3

You create an import map through the Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 Software Development Kit (SDK). You use nonprintable characters, such as newline (\n) or return (\r) characters, as delimiters for the field values. You receive an error message that resembles the following: The rows of data that contain nonprintable field delimiter characters are not imported.
