Important This update supersedes and replaces update 941898. (Update 941898 was released in August 2007.) This update includes daylight saving time (DST) changes that were signed in to law after update 941898 was created.

INTRODUCTION

A February 2008 daylight saving time (DST) update is available for Microsoft Windows Mobile-based devices. This update changes the time zone data to accommodate DST changes in several countries, as summarized in this article.

This update is a cumulative update rollup that includes all the changes that were released in update 941898.

New features in the February 2008 daylight saving time update

The following changes have been made since update 941898 was released.
Arabic Standard Time
Adjusts DST start dates and end dates for the Baghdad time zone to reflect changes that have occurred since the earlier cumulative time zone update was created in August 2007.
Australia: Central Australia Standard Time, Australia Eastern Standard Time, Tasmania Standard Time
Adjusts DST start times and end times for these time zones so that DST starts and ends on the same day. This adjustment was made after the earlier cumulative time zone update was created in August 2007.

How to apply the update

If you can connect the Windows Mobile-based device to a computer, follow these steps:
1.Connect the device to the computer.
2.Download and run the Setup.msi file, and then follow the instructions.
If you cannot connect the device to a computer, and an update file is available, there are alternative ways to install the update file. For example, follow these steps:
1.Download the WMDST2008-1.cab file for the Windows Mobile-based device to a computer.
2.Attach the update file to an e-mail message, and then send the e-mail message to an account that you can access from the device.
3.On the device, open the e-mail message, and then save the attached file.
4.Locate the file, and then apply the update.
Note After you apply the update, your device will automatically restart to complete the software update installation.

Installation notes

You can apply the daylight saving time update either on the device or on the storage card.

To find the difference between UTC and local time, use the Time Zone tab in the Date and Time item in Control Panel.
