INTRODUCTION

Issue that the hotfix package fixes

This hotfix package fixes the following issues that were not previously documented in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article:
  • When you use a client certificate to authenticate to a SharePoint site, SharePoint Designer 2007 may not open the site.
  • You use a client certificate to authenticate to a SharePoint site. On a Windows XP-based computer that has a 2007 Microsoft Office system installed, you can open an Office file on SharePoint successfully for the first time. When you open the file the second time, you may experience one of the following symptoms, depending on which kind of file that you open.
    • When you open an Excel 2007 workbook, you receive the following error message:

      Microsoft Office Excel cannot access the file
      'https://server_nameSPSsite/documents/file_name.xls'. There are several possible reasons:
      The file name or path does not exist.
      The file being used by another program.
      The workbook you are trying to save has the same name as a currently open workbook.
    • When you try to open a Word 2007 document, Word 2007 opens without a file.
    • When you open a PowerPoint 2007 document, you receive the following error message:

      The path or file name for 'https://server_nameSPSsite/documents/file_name.pot'. is invalid. Please check that the path and file name are correct.
