SYMPTOMS

When you enable the Show in Groups option for a folder that contains thousands of e-mail messages in Microsoft Office Outlook 2007, you may experience slow performance. Additionally, you receive the following error message:

Outlook is retrieving data from the Microsoft Exchange Server Server_Name. You can cancel the request or minimize this message to the Windows taskbar until Outlook closes the message automatically.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, apply hotfix 949401.

Note This hotfix resolves this problem if the mailbox resides on a server that is running Microsoft Exchange Server 2007. If the mailbox resides on a server that is running Microsoft Exchange Server 2003, you must also apply hotfix 948828 on the server.
