SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario:
  • On a Windows Vista-based computer, you use the Windows Aero color scheme feature.
  • You enable the transparency option in the Windows Aero color scheme feature.
  • While you are using Windows Internet Explorer 7, a pop-up window opens.
In this scenario, a half-transparent band appears at the top of the new Internet Explorer window.

This issue occurs if the following conditions are true:
  • The Web page uses the Window.Open script function to open the Internet Explorer pop-up window.
  • In the script function, the navigation bar is configured to be invisible.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, install the most current cumulative security update for Internet Explorer. To install the most current updates, visit the following Microsoft Web site:

Steps to reproduce the problem

  1. Copy the following sample code into a text file. Then, use the name Openie7.htm to save the file as an HTML file.

    </HTML>
    
    Notes
    • After you set the value of the menubar field to 0, the menu bar does not appear even when you press the ALT key.
    • After you set the values of the menubar field and of the toolbar field to 0, the toolbar and any additional third-party user interfaces are disabled.
  2. Publish the HTML file to a Web server.
  3. Use Internet Explorer 7 on a Windows Vista-based computer to access the HTML file on the Web server.
  4. In the Web page, click test. A pop-up window appears.
  5. In the pop-up window, click test. A new pop-up window appears. A half-transparent band appears at the top of this new window.
