Event 4618 is logged when you use the AdtSetup.exe program to update an Audit Collection Services installation in System Center Operations Manager 2007

SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario:
  • You deploy Audit Collection Services (ACS) in Microsoft System Center Operations Manager 2007.
  • You configure ACS to use Microsoft SQL Server authentication together with a non-standard sa account name for a database connection. For example, you use an account that is named acs_sa.
  • After you deploy ACS, you use the AdtSetup.exe program to update the ACS installation.
In this scenario, the following event is logged in the Application log:

Event Category: None
Event ID: 4618
Date: Date
Time: Time
User: N/A
Computer: ComputerName
Description:
Error occurred on database connection:
Status: 0x00040000
ODBC Error: 4624
ODBC State: 01000
Message: [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Cannot grant, deny, or revoke permissions to sa, dbo, entity owner, information_schema, sys, or yourself.
Database: SqlWriter
Connection: Maintenance
Statement:

CAUSE

Event 4618 is logged when the updating process sets permissions on certain stored procedures.

RESOLUTION

You can safely ignore event 4618 in this scenario.
