Error message when a Communicator 2007 user sends a message that contains only Japanese characters to Communicator 2005 users: "<Username> cannot receive message in the format you used"

SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario:
Some Microsoft Office Communicator 2007 users invite some Microsoft Office Communicator 2005 users to participate in a conversation.
A Communicator 2007 user sends a message that contains only Japanese characters.
A Communicator 2007 user sends a message that has no Japanese characters. All participants receive this message.
A Communicator 2007 user sends a message that contains only Japanese characters.
In this scenario, the Communicator 2005 users do not receive the last message that contains only Japanese characters. Additionally, the Communicator 2007 users receive the following error message:
Username cannot receive message in the format you used; the message was not delivered: message

How to obtain the hotfix
