You cannot control the behavior of attachments on mobile devices by using the ActiveSync policy in Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 1

On a computer that is running Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 1, you cannot control the behavior of attachments on mobile devices by using the ActiveSync policy. Even if the policy is disabled, users can still download attachments.

To resolve this problem, download and install Update Rollup 3 for Exchange 2007 SP1. Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.

After you apply the software update that is described in the "Resolution" section, you can disable the attachment download feature by using the Exchange Management Console. To do this, follow these steps:

1. Open Exchange Management Console.
2. Click Organization Configuration, click Client Access, and then click Exchange ActiveSync Mailbox Policies.
3. Open the property of default policy, and then move to the Sync Settings page.
4. Click to clear the Allow attachments to be downloaded to the device check box.
