FIX: Some items may not be retrieved from the Visual SourceSafe database when you use the VSSConverter.exe tool to migrate from Visual SourceSafe 2005 to Team Foundation Server

SYMPTOMS

When you use the VSSConverter.exe tool to migrate from Microsoft Visual SourceSafe 2005 to Microsoft Visual Studio Team Foundation Server, some items may not be retrieved from the Visual SourceSafe database. Therefore, some items cannot be migrated to Team Foundation Server. Or, items that have empty contents are migrated unexpectedly.

RESOLUTION

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.

You must have Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Team Suite Service Pack 1 installed to apply this hotfix.

Restart requirement

You do not have to restart the computer after you apply this hotfix.

This hotfix does not replace any other hotfixes.
