Article ID: 950313 - Last Review: July 17, 2009 - Revision: 3.2 After you perform the network test for your Original Xbox console Live Connection, you receive the message: "Cables not connected"SYMPTOMSWhen you try to connect to Xbox LIVE, the network test results in "Cables not connected" displayed on the Connect Status screen. CAUSEThis problem occurs when a physical connection cannot be established between the original Xbox console and the network device. This test detects the network adapter and verifies that it is physically connected. If you are using a wired-only connection, this test verifies that an Ethernet cable is connected to your console’s Ethernet port. If you are using an Ethernet-to-wireless bridge, this test verifies that your console can communicate with your wireless bridge. THINGS TO TRYBefore you start the troubleshooting steps in this article, make sure that you power cycle all the devices on the network.
