You cannot apply the changes that you make on the Access tab of the properties page for an SMTP virtual server on a Windows Server 2003-based computer after you apply hotfix 946517

Consider the following scenario. You have a Windows Server 2003-based computer that has the Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) service installed. You edit the properties of an SMTP virtual server in Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager. You change some settings on the Access tab of the properties page. However, when you click Apply or OK to apply the changes, you receive the following error message:Therefore, you have to click Cancel to exit the properties page, and you cannot apply the changes.

Note This problem occurs after you apply hotfix 946517 on the computer.

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article.
