SQL Server Edition Operating System Compatibility Some components of this edition of SQL Server are not supported on this operating system. For details, see 'Hardware and Software Requirements for Installing SQL Server 2005' in Microsoft SQL Server Books Online. CAUSEThis problem occurs because the SQL Server 2005 installer was released before the release of Windows Web Server 2008. Therefore, the SQL Server 2005 installer does not expect the Windows Web Server 2008 licensing information. When the installer does not receive the expected results, it blocks the associated installation.
