Error message when you start Outlook 2007: "The file <Path>\SharePoint Lists.pst cannot be found"

SYMPTOMS

When you start Microsoft Office Outlook 2007, you receive the following error message:
The file Path\SharePoint Lists.pst cannot be found.
When you click OK in the error message, the Create/Open Personal Folders File dialog box appears.

If you click Cancel in the Create/Open Personal Folders File dialog box, two SharePoint Lists.pst entries are displayed in the Navigation pane. One entry refers to the old SharePoint Lists.pst file that no longer exists. The other entry refers to the new SharePoint Lists.pst file that Outlook 2007 creates automatically. When you click the old entry, you may receive the following error message:
Cannot expand the folder. The set of folders cannot be opened. The file Path\SharePoint Lists(2).pst cannot be found.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, apply hotfix 950485. For more information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
