INTRODUCTION

A March 2008 daylight saving time (DST) update is available for Microsoft Windows Mobile-based devices. The update that this article describes changes the time zone data to accommodate daylight saving time (DST) changes in several countries, as outlined in this article.

The update that this article describes is a cumulative update rollup that includes all the changes that were previously released in Microsoft Knowledge Base (KB) article 949168. The update also includes the removal of the Baghdad time zone DST observance.

Important Make sure that you uninstall DST update 949168, the February 2008 cumulative DST update, before you install this update. Your appointments’ time will be adjusted.

Updates for March 2008 daylight saving time update

The following changes have been made since the previous Windows Mobile cumulative time zone update. This update is described in Microsoft Knowledge Base article 941898.

Arabic Standard Time

The DST observance for the Baghdad time zone is removed.
Australia: Central Australia Standard Time, Australia Eastern Standard Time, Tasmania Standard Time

The DST start times and end times for these time zones are adjusted so that DST starts and ends on the same day in all these time zones. This was changed after the prior cumulative time zone update was created (in August 2007).

How to install the software update

Uninstall the February 2008 DST update (update 949168).

If you can connect the device to a computer, follow these steps:

Connect the Windows Mobile-based device to the computer.
Download and then run the WindowsMobile-kb949168.msi file, and then follow the instructions.

If you cannot connect the device to a computer, an update file is available. There are many ways to install the update file. For example, you can follow these steps:

Download the WindowsMobile-kb949168.cab file for the Windows Mobile-based device to a computer.
Attach the update file to an e-mail message, and then send the e-mail message to an account that you can access from the device.
On the device, open the e-mail message, and then save the attached file.
Locate the file, and then run the file to install the update.

Note After you install the update, your device will automatically restart to complete the software update installation.
