Article ID: 950980 - Last Review: October 8, 2011 - Revision: 2.0 FIX: The FTP adapter cannot parse a LIST response that is in non-English format in BizTalk Server 2006 R2
On This PageSYMPTOMSConsider the following scenario:
For example, you have an HP-UX FTP server on which the locale is set to jp_JP. You use the FTP adapter in BizTalk Server 2006 R2 to connect to the HP-UX FTP server. When you issue a LIST command through the FTP adapter, the FTP server sends the LIST response to BizTalk Server 2006 R2 in Japanese. The FTP adapter cannot parse the response, and it does not retrieve the files from the FTP server. CAUSEThis problem occurs because the FTP adapter cannot parse the
LIST response in Double Byte Character Set (DBCS) format. Note An example of a character set that uses the DBCS format is the Japanese character set. RESOLUTION Both English and Japanese versions of this hotfix
are provided. You should apply the version of the hotfix that corresponds to the
version of BizTalk Server 2006 R2 that you are using. After you apply this hotfix, a new option Use namelist (NLST) is provided when you configure the FTP Transport Properties option on the FTP adapter. If the option Use namelist (NLST) is set to Yes, the FTP adapter retrieves only the filenames from the FTP server instead of the default system-defined file listing. In this manner, the FTP adapter can parse the response correctly and can then retrieve files from the FTP server. By default, the option Use namelist (NLST) is set to No. Note If you enable the option Use namelist (NLST), the Max File Size and Batch Maximum Size settings on the FTP adapter are not applied. Both settings depend on the size of the file on the FTP server. Because the NLST command retrieves only the filename information before BizTalk Server 2006 R2 downloads a file, the Max File Size and Batch Maximum Size settings are not applied. Hotfix informationA supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problemP1 that P2 described in this article.
