SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario.
  • You install Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 1 (SP1) on a server that is running Windows Server 2008.
  • You deploy a MAPI application that registers itself for notifications.
In this scenario, the MAPI application does not work as expected. However, the same MAPI application works correctly if Exchange 2007 is installed on a server that is running Windows Server 2003.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the EnumProtocols function does not work correctly in Windows Server 2008 and was replaced by the WSAEnumProtocols function. Exchange Server 2007 uses the EnumProtocols function when the MAPI application calls the IMsgStore::Advise method.

RESOLUTION
