Error message on a Windows Vista-based client computer that is configured to use the Corporate Error Reporting tool: "Connect to the Internet, or try again later"

Consider the following scenario:

• You configure the Corporate Error Reporting tool on a network.
• On this network, you run a Windows Vista-based client computer that is configured to use Corporate Error Reporting.

In this scenario, you may receive the following error message:However, when you check the Internet connection, everything works correctly. There are no problems with the computer's Internet connection.

This misleading error message is generated when one of the following conditions is true:

• The client computer that is configured to use Corporate Error Reporting is not connected to the Corporate Error Reporting server.
• The connection between the computer and the server is unstable. For example, a VPN connection to the corporate network is unstable.

Therefore, the computer cannot reach the Corporate Error Reporting server.

A hotfix is available to resolve this problem. After you apply this hotfix, Windows Vista checks to determine whether the computer has network connectivity any time that the computer cannot connect to the Corporate Error Reporting server. If there are no network connectivity problems, you may receive the following error message:
