After you install Hotfix Rollup 3 for Microsoft Forefront Security for Exchange Server Service Pack 1, you configure scan engine error notifications and scan engine time-out notifications

If you enable Notifications for e-mail message senders and recipients in an earlier version of Microsoft Forefront Security for Exchange Server (FSE), and an e-mail message causes an engine error or an engine time-out, the sender and the recipient are notified.

After you apply Hotfix Rollup 3 for Microsoft Forefront Security for Exchange Server Service Pack 1, two new registry values give you additional options to control or disable these notifications:

• The EngineTimeOutNotification registry value controls the time-out notification e-mail messages.
• The EngineErrorNotification registry value controls Engine Error notification e-mail messages.

These registry values are created in the following registry subkey: You can alter the current functionality by changing the values of the EngineTimeoutNotification and EngineErrorNotification registry values as follows:

• A value of 0 causes FSE to work as currently designed. That is, all e-mail addresses that are configured as Virus Administrators, Virus Senders, or Virus Recipients will receive notifications if Virus Administrators, Virus Senders, or Virus Recipients are enabled under Notifications in REPORT in Forefront Server Security Administrator.
• A value of 1 causes FSE to send notifications only to the Virus Administrators who are configured under Notifications in REPORT in Forefront Server Security Administrator.
• Any other value disables the notifications.

This feature is available from Hotfix Rollup 3 for Microsoft Forefront Security for Exchange Server Service Pack 1.
