SYMPTOMS

When you try to put a Windows XP-based computer into hibernation (S4) or into standby (S3), the computer stops responding (hangs).

This problem occurs on computers that have particular hardware configurations.

RESOLUTION

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.
