You cannot disable the "No end date" option for appointments, meeting requests, tasks, or task requests in Outlook 2003

SYMPTOMS

When you set the range of recurrence for a new recurring appointment, meeting request, task, or task request in Microsoft Office Outlook 2003, you cannot disable the No end date option. The No end date option is always available when you set the range of recurrence.

How to disable the "No end date" option

How to back up and restore the registry in Windows

To disable the No end date option automatically, go to the "Fix it for me" section. To disable the No end date option yourself, go to the "Let me fix it myself" section.

Fix it for me

To disable the No end date option automatically, click the Fix it button or link. Click Run in the File Download dialog box, and then follow the steps in the Fix it wizard.

To disable the No end date option for recurring appointments, for meeting requests, for tasks, or for task requests yourself after you apply this hotfix, follow these steps:

Exit Outlook 2003.
Start Registry Editor.
- In Windows Vista, click Start

  , type regedit in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.

  If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type the password, or provide confirmation.
- In Windows XP, click Start, click Run, type regedit in the Open box, and then click OK.
Locate and then select the following registry subkey:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Outlook\Preferences
If you use policies, select the following registry subkey:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Outlook\Preferences
Note Both these registry keys perform the same function.
After you select the key that step 3 specifies, point to New on the Edit menu, and then click DWORD Value.
Type DisableRecurNoEnd, and then press ENTER.
Right-click DisableRecurNoEnd, and then click Modify.
In the Value data box, type 1, and then click OK.
On the File menu, click Exit to exit Registry Editor.

MORE INFORMATION

After you apply this hotfix and after you disable the No end date option in Outlook 2003, the No end date option functions as follows:

Existing recurring appointments, meeting requests, tasks, or task requests function as before. However, the No end date option is unavailable.
If you change the recurring appointment, meeting request, task, or task request to end after several occurrences or to end by a specific date, you cannot set the No end date option.
