SYMPTOMS Consider the following scenario. In Microsoft SQL Server 2005, you configure a transactional replication. Then, you enable the MaxCmdInTran parameter for the Replication Log Reader Agent. In this scenario, the Replication Log Reader Agent may fail intermittently when the transactional replication synchronizes data. Additionally, you receive the following error message: Date Time Status: 0, code: 20011, text: 'The process could not execute 'sp_replcmds' on InstanceName.'.
Date Time The process could not execute 'sp_replcmds' on InstanceName. Date Time Status: 0, code: 9003, text: 'The log scan number (8557121:768:1) passed to log scan in database 'ICOMS_Services' is not valid. This error may indicate data corruption or that the log file (.ldf) does not match the data file (.mdf). If this error occurred during replication, re-create the publication. Otherwise, restore from backup if the problem results in a failure during startup. '. Date Time Status: 0, code: 22037, text: 'The process could not execute 'sp_replcmds' on InstanceName.'. RESOLUTIONCumulative update informationThe fix for this issue was first released in Cumulative Update 8. Cumulative update package 8 for SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 2937137 Microsoft SQL Server 2005 hotfixes are created for specific SQL Server service packs. You must apply a SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 2 hotfix to an installation of SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 2. By default, any hotfix that is provided in a SQL Server service pack is included in the next SQL Server service pack.
