Article ID: 952601 - Last Review: February 12, 2009 - Revision: 2.0 Error message when the Setup program for Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 performs a check in the Environmental Diagnostic Wizard (EDW): "Error| Check FullTextRunningValidator : Failure: Service msftesql was not found on computer '[Computer_Name]'"SYMPTOMSYou try
to install Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0. When the Setup
program performs a check in the Environmental Diagnostic Wizard (EDW), you
receive the following error message: Error| Check
FullTextRunningValidator : Failure: Service msftesql was not found on computer
'Computer_Name'. The specified service does not exist as an installed service. CAUSEThis problem occurs because the Setup program for Microsoft
Dynamics CRM 4.0 tries to verify that
full-text indexing is
enabled in the instance of SQL Server.
The Setup program does this by looking for the Msftesql service.
However, Full-Text Search does not rely on a Windows service in SQL Server
2008. Instead, Full-Text Search is
built internally in databases. Therefore, the Msftesql service is removed in
version 6 of the SQL Server 2008 Community Technology Preview (CTP).
RESOLUTIONThis problem is fixed in the latest cumulative update rollup for Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0. For more information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
