SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario:
  • In Microsoft Antigen 9.0 for Exchange, you set a file filter to block a file type in e-mail attachments.
  • You select Delete: remove contents for the action.
  • You receive an e-mail message from an external e-mail account. For example, you receive an e-mail message from a Yahoo! e-mail mailbox.
  • The e-mail message contains an attachment that matches the file filter and that should be removed.
In this scenario, the e-mail attachment is not renamed to have a .txt file name extension. However, you expect Antigen to automatically change the file name extension of the attachment to .txt and then to insert the deletion text into the .txt file.

Note If you manually rename the attachment to have a .txt file name extension, you can open it in Notepad to find the deletion text. For example, the deletion text may resemble the following text:
Microsoft Antigen for Exchange removed a file since it was found to match a filter.
