This article describes the Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 issues that are fixed in the SharePoint Server 2007 hotfix package that is dated May 20, 2008.
This article describes the following items about the hotfix package:
The issues that the hotfix package fixes.
The prerequisites for installing the hotfix
package.
Whether you must restart the computer after you install
the hotfix package.
Whether the hotfix package is replaced by any other
hotfix package.
This hotfix package fixes the following issues that were not previously documented in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article:
You create a search keyword in SharePoint Server
2007. Then, you edit the keyword. When you do this, the start date, the end date, and
the review date in the Publishing section on the Edit Keyword
page are decremented by one.
This issue occurs only if the time zone on the Regional
Settings page of the site is set to a value that begins with "GMT." For example,
this issue occurs for the following time zone:
(GMT-08:00) Tijuana, Baja California
After you install hotfix 941274, you cannot view or edit
the discussion items in the discussion board that is located on the navigation
bar of the publishing site.
Additionally, you cannot install Microsoft Office SharePoint
Server 2007 Service Pack 1 (SP1) hotfix packages or SharePoint Server
2007 post-SP1 hotfix packages.
In SharePoint Server 2007, you start a content
deployment job. When you do this, the job status remains "Preparing."
This issue occurs if you
have not set an export server in the Content Deployment
settings under Operations on the Central
Administration Web site.
This hotfix package together with hotfix 952698 also fixes the following issues that were not previously documented in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article:
You upgrade Microsoft Office SharePoint Portal Server 2003 to
SharePoint Server 2007. You edit a 2007 Microsoft Office Open XML
Format file in the upgraded document libraries for the first time. When you do this, the
document library field values are overwritten by the document property values.
This condition results in data loss.
In SharePoint Server 2007, you disable compression in the content deployment path
definition. After you do this, a content deployment
job fails.
You delete and then restore a publishing page from the
Recycle bin on a publishing portal. When you do this, the SharePoint Server 2007
incremental deployment job fails.
In SharePoint Server 2007, you enable and then disable a feature that creates a content type. If you never use this content
type on the site, the content type and the custom fields that the feature
defines are deleted.
Because the content type is not used on the site, the
custom fields are marked for removal when they are imported. However, the
delete operation fails.
In SharePoint Server 2007, you run a quick deployment
job to deploy one or more pages. Then, you try to run a quick deployment job on another page
while the previous job is running. When you do this, the second quick deployment job fails.
Additionally, you receive the following error message:
Object reference not set to an instance.
Note The pages from the failed job are deployed.
In SharePoint Server 2007, several columns are
duplicated when you run a content deployment job.
Note These columns are standard SharePoint Server 2007 publishing columns and not custom columns.
In SharePoint Server 2007, you perform a copy
or move operation on publishing pages. When you do this, the operation takes 20 minutes to
finish.
Additionally, the site is very slow during the copy or move
operation. The site is sometimes unresponsive even to regular site requests.
On the Manage Content and Structure page of a SharePoint
site, you cannot move a link to another destination in the Links list library.
When you are running multiple content deployment jobs in
parallel, some deployment jobs may fail randomly.
You can run an incremental content deployment job to deploy content from one site collection into another site collection. However, the incremental content deployment job fails after you perform one of the following operations in the source site collection:
You create a new page that uses a name that was previously used by
another page on the source site collection.
You delete a site and then create a new site that
uses the same name that was used by the deleted site.
You delete a document in a folder and then delete
the folder from a document library.
You enable the Variations feature in SharePoint
Server 2007. When you try to propagate the pages, Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services
3.0 may stop responding.
Note To resolve these issues, you must install both hotfix
952704 and hotfix 952698.

Description of the Windows
SharePoint Services 3.0 hotfix package: May 20, 2008
Hotfix 952698 together with hotfix 952704 also provides a design change that enables a content deployment job to maintain the ghosted state of the following items:
Master pages
Layouts
Style library items
Image library items
This is true for every full deployment, not only for the first full deployment.
